Food For Thought – Lost In Translation

He replied, in English, “Oh, No. No thank you. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”

The translator reported that the guest had said:

“The vodka was terrific but the meat was horrible!”

Another story…Ray Sokolov, in his new book, Steal the Menu, repeats a tale told by Robert Finegan who was dining in Japan. He asked the waiter to bring him the food that was being enjoyed by two other diners. The waiter snatched up their plates and brought them to him. They protested mightily!
